Historical Places in Izmir

Turkey has extraordinary country with its natural beuties, cheap hotels and numerous historical places. First of all I want to present you İzmir, one of the oldest cities in the world.

İzmir, the craddle of many civilization, has fascinating history which begins in the legend of mits. It was among largest cities in the world at the time of Ephesus, Rome, Byzantine and Ottoman. Naturaly, it has a lot of historical places to visit for those who love history. Let's a look at these places

AGORA



Agora which is not just a market place, but also the location of public institution and the temple of Zeus. It witnessed important public events such as tirials and and elections. and in all its glory, it is still standing and waiting for its visitors.






KIZLARAGASI KHAN


 Kızlaragası khan is the bigest and most gorgeous khan in Izmir. It was built by Hacı Beşir Ağa in 1744. In addition to its monumental feature, it reflect Ottoman architectural feature. it was built in the mouth of horbor instead of Izmir's center and this is an indicator of how it has important function in commerce.











KEMERALTI BAZAAR


Kemeraltı bazaar was established between 1650-1670. kemearltı bazaar,which was the central point of izmir's commercial life, included former khans and bazaars. every bussines class created diffrent departments in the bazaar. In today, it is the place of loosing itself in the crowd and the richness of the city.





KADIFEKALE


It is remored that amazon women lived in Kadifekale,former name was Pagos and had maintained their sovereignt for a lon time in the region. It was basen on such a place that you can easily see the bird's-eye view  of the city like amazon womans. And, of course, you can witness how the city changes in the differt times of a day by visiting there.
